I take the battery out to actually shut down. It shuts down then, but when I turn it back on I always have to reset the router. Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps please check for Windows Updates. In the search box on the taskbar, enter Check for update, select Windows Update. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates. Power troubleshooter will automatically fix some common issues with Power Plans. However, I’m done with dedicating hours and hours and hours and hours worth of time, day after day after day after day, trying to “navigate” Windows I still have the option to “uninstall”, but am so put off by the whole thing, that for the first time in my life, I’m going Apple, I’m simply going to “uninstall” Microsoft.

Whomever the genius behind Windows 10 is, I wish that person all the best, but that person is really not “the best” as far as many are concerned. In the traditional shutdown process, Windows fully shuts down everything, discards the running system state, and starts up from scratch the next time the PC boots.

When you hibernate, Windows saves the entire system state, including all your open programs and files, to disk so you can quickly resume from where you left off. Fast Startup mixes the traditional shutdown process with hibernation. With Fast Startup enabled, Windows 10 discards all your open programs and files as it would during a traditional shutdown , but saves the state of the Windows kernel to disk as it would during hibernation.
